Netflix can rewrite the characters, rewrite the history, and rewrite the fairy tales. Apparently, the one script Hollywood still can’t improve is: “Clean out your office.”

About a thousand jobs getting cut, and two major content bosses headed for the exits. That’s an expensive way to discover that audiences want entertainment. Somewhere along the way, telling a good story became less important than making sure the casting announcement qualified as a political statement. I want a plot twist. They want a demographic spreadsheet.

And what happened to all that Obama magic? Remember the prestige? The sophistication? The cultural swagger that Barack and Michelle supposedly brought to Netflix? When you buy that much star power, shouldn’t somebody eventually ask whether it keeps the lights on? Speaking of Michelle—where is she? We’ll get into that.

Meanwhile, election integrity is getting some attention, and somebody predicted we would hear more about arrests as the midterms approached. Some unusually perceptive fellow. Handsome, too. Who was that sage?

ME. I’ll give you the numbers in a bit, and we’ll look at exactly what those cases involve. But I would appreciate somebody warming up my “Kevin Was Right” coffee mug. At this point, that thing needs a commercial dishwasher.

We also have numbers on U.S. visa revocations, and they raise a question Washington should have answered years ago: If somebody no longer qualifies to be here, why does enforcing the rules require a presidential personality strong enough to survive an assassination attempt? A visa comes with conditions. Somewhere in Washington, that apparently became a controversial observation.

Then there’s Thom Tillis, offering his latest contribution to Republican enthusiasm. Let’s hear it.

Thank you, Thom. Nothing fires up your voters like a motivational speech from the guy inspecting the lifeboats.

I’m looking at the midterms differently, and today I’m going to explain why. Start with Minnesota, where Michele Tafoya is giving Democrats a race they would much prefer to take for granted. When Republicans make Democrats work for Minnesota, I pay attention. That doesn’t put a victory in the bank, but it certainly makes the folks managing the Democratic account check their balance.

And then there’s Ohio. Have you heard the ad featuring Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton’s own mother criticizing her? These are disputed family allegations, but the political spectacle is extraordinary. Campaigns spend fortunes trying to find somebody who can say, “I’ve known this candidate for years.” This one begins with, essentially, “I gave birth to her.”

Kevin Jackson has been called, the "white-collar" Joe Rogan. Given their similar backgrounds in TV, comedy, and martial arts, it's easy to see why people enjoy Kevin's show so much.
