Ahead of Melanie C's upcoming "Sweat World Tour" coming to the UK and Europe, Joel and David go all the way back to 1999 to revisit Sporty's very first solo tour. You may hear a familiar voice making a cameo somewhere in the episode!
"From Liverpool to Leicester Square" was a tour of intimate venues in 1999 to promote Melanie's debut solo album, the critically-lauded "Northern Star". This was a fresh start for Melanie C and a chance to establish herself for the first time outside of Spice Girls by gigging her own material in smaller venues from her hometown Liverpool to the US, Canada, Japan, Australia and several European countries before wrapping it in London's Astoria. We're treated to singles like 'Northern Star', 'Goin Down' and 'If That Were Me', and deep cuts and b-sides on this run, well ahead of the glorious mainstream success of the No.1 singles to come from this album: 'Never Be The Same Again' and 'I Turn To You'.
