This week on Panoramic Outdoors, I sit down with artist and taxidermist Des McCaffrey for a conversation that covers a little bit of everything that makes the outdoors so special.

We talk about how Des got into the artist life, where his passion for creating came from, and the work that goes into turning inspiration from the outdoors into something you can actually put on the wall. We also get into the world of taxidermy, the amount of time, patience and skill behind the work, and what most people never see once an animal leaves the field.

And, of course, we talk hunting.

From chasing animals in the field to preserving those experiences through art and taxidermy, Des has a unique perspective on the outdoors. We talk about the connection between hunting, art and conservation, and why those experiences become about a whole lot more than simply pulling the trigger or filling a tag.

A great conversation with a guy who has found a way to turn his passion for the outdoors into his work.
