Pregnant? Make These Money Moves Before Maternity Leave 🤰🏽💰

We spend months preparing for the baby—the car seat, hospital bag, nursery, diapers, childcare plans...

But what about preparing for what happens to your money when your ability—or desire—to work changes?

In this episode of The Money Goddess Podcast, we're talking about how moms can financially prepare for maternity leave without assuming the answer is just “work more.”

This isn't about getting rich during maternity leave. It's about protecting the money you'll need today while learning how to build assets for your future.

We're breaking down three moves you can start making before baby arrives:

1️⃣ Protect today.
Figure out what maternity leave will actually cost you. We'll walk through calculating your expected income, essential expenses, medical costs, baby expenses, and the potential gap you need to prepare for.

2️⃣ Learn now.
Your maternity-leave savings and long-term investing money have two very different jobs. We'll talk about why money you need soon generally shouldn't depend on stock-market performance—and how you can start learning about stocks, ETFs, dividends, brokerage accounts, and compound growth before you feel completely “ready.”

3️⃣ Build for later.
I'll show you how to start a simple investment research watchlist by asking questions like: How does this company make money? Is it profitable? Does it pay a dividend? What are the risks? Would I want to own it for years?

Because motherhood may change how much time you have available to work—but that doesn't mean you have to stop building your financial knowledge. 🤍

You still need to do your own research and make your own investment decisions. Investing involves risk, dividends aren't guaranteed, and companies can reduce or eliminate dividend payments.
