USMNT GK Depth Pool Review: Diego Kochen Vs Brian Schwake - Which Goalkeeper Stood Out This International Window? Plus How To Handle Negative GK Coaching Comments
The US Men's National Soccer Team has completed their 4 game international window, and as all goalkeepers head back to their respective club teams, we dive deep into the 4 goalkeepers in camp. We share our insights into their distribution metrics, expected goals (xG) profiles, and athletic profiles to evaluate who deserves a call up for the Nations League Quarterfinal in November.
Then we break down Diego Kochen's fantastic tip save vs Mexico in his 1st ever USMNT start, analyzing why dropping for depth and not being aggressive on a looping half volley was the right tactical play. We also breakdown Brian Schwake's awkward save off the post against Canada and discuss why pure improvisation when your body shape and positioning may not be optimal is a critical developmental milestone inside the 18.
Finally, we look at the social media comments regarding Chris Brady's error vs Chile, how to maintain proper coaching boundary lines on public social channels, and why this should be part of a grassroots goalkeeper license. Plus, a quick preview of our upcoming episode with The Keeper Institute and Point Blank Podcast Host Tori Corsaro.
A high-IQ, unfiltered discussion breaking down the modern goalkeeper position, technical training methodologies, and the tactical context of elite player development.
