EPISODE 598: Why can’t real estate investors stop doing EVERYTHING, even with a team?
You did what everyone told you to do. You hired people. You brought in support. And somehow, you have less time than before.
If that sounds familiar, you are probably caught in what I call the CEO Triangle Trap.
In this minisode of The Real Estate InvestHER Podcast, I'm walking you through three stages that keep real estate investors stuck doing instead of leading, and exactly how to move through each one.
The triangle has three points: the Doer, the Luxury Doer, and True Leadership. Most investors spend years bouncing between the first two without realizing it, and the shift from one to the next is not about systems or delegation. It is about identity.
At the Doer stage, you are the business. You research, execute, follow up, and close. You know the business better than anyone, and that is exactly why you cannot let go. The root cause here is trust, and the real cost is that every hour you spend doing is an hour you are not spending acquiring, scaling, or thinking strategically.
At the Luxury Doer stage, you hired people, but instead of buying your time back, you became the dispatcher. You are telling everyone what to do, saving them when they struggle, and double-checking every outcome. It looks like leadership from the outside, but it is not. Your overhead went up, and your freedom did not.
True Leadership is the stage where you stop being the one with all the answers and start being the one who develops people who find their own answers. I share the exact frameworks to get there, including the escalation ladder and the 1-3-1 framework, so your team learns to bring you options instead of problems.
In this episode, you'll learn:
- The three stages of the CEO Triangle Trap and how to identify which one you're in
- Why hiring people doesn't automatically give you your time back
- The root cause behind each stage of the trap
- How to shift from managing tasks to developing independent thinkers
- The escalation ladder that teaches your team to solve problems without you
- The 1-3-1 framework and how to use it with one person on your team this week
- Why scaling past your own capacity requires an identity shift, not just better systems
Your ceiling as a leader cannot become your business's ceiling. This episode will show you how to break through it.
