Having the same realization five times doesn't mean you failed the first four.

 

Episode 3 of Walk With Jon. No studio, no script, no guest, no editing. Jon Vroman on a walking trail near his house, thinking out loud. The audio is rough on purpose. He even fumbles an old saying mid-walk and leaves it in: "Like I said, these are unscripted mistakes and all."

Jon walked this one listening to his own voice notes from the last five to eight years. A week earlier he'd pulled out a bin holding 30 to 50 journals, most of them a quarter filled and abandoned. Going back through all of it, he noticed he keeps having the same realizations, over and over, each time a little deeper. His take on why: "It's not about learning something new. It's about remembering something true." Self-reflection is a workout, not a graduation. You don't go to the gym once and stay strong.

He's honest about the other side of reviewing decades of your own notes: the shame of feeling like you should be further ahead, and the sheer number of things a man is supposed to master. But the point of this walk is the honoring. Front Row Dads turns ten in October 2026, back in Philadelphia where it started, and Jon has watched men keep showing up for that entire run. His ask this morning is simple: put your hand on your heart and thank yourself for showing up and doing the work.
