Endometriosis is an incredibly common condition, with symptoms like pelvic pain, irregular bleeding, or pain during sex. Despite how common it is, and how disruptive the symptoms can be to people’s daily lives, people with endometriosis can often wait years for an official diagnosis.

Dr. Camille Ladanyi and Emelle Holmes-Drammeh joined the Women’s Healthcast to help us learn more about endometriosis. Dr. Ladanyi is an assistant professor in the UW Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a minimally invasive gynecologic surgeon. Emelle is a physician assistant in the UW Health Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery clinic. In this interview, they talk about the most common signs and symptoms of endometriosis, why the path to diagnosis can be so long, and some of the ways endometriosis can impact other aspects of health.
