On January 6th 1991, a father and son went fishing in Pennington Flash in Leigh, Greater Manchester. They discovered body parts floating in bin bags. The remains were that of Maria Christina Requena who worked as a sex worker in Manchester city centre. Her murder caused much uproar and speculation that there was a killer on the loose targeting women in the area. The third so far that had taken place around the East Lancs road.
