Artificial intelligence is advancing at a rapid pace, but some researchers are warning the technology could become increasingly difficult to control. Former Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon recently resigned and went public with concerns that AI companies are racing toward self-improving systems without adequate safeguards, while many government officials like Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent argue the U.S. cannot afford to fall behind China. Co-founder of the Center for Humane Technology, Tristan Harris examines the growing debate over AI safety and regulation, including reports of AI agents breaking out of testing environments and the potential consequences of pushing the technology too far, too fast.
