In Boston Harbor, a pentagonal-shaped military fort sits on Georges Island. Originally intended as a defense against foreign powers, the fort became a prison for confederate soldiers during the Civil War. Its most famous resident, a woman who broke in to free her captured lover, still haunts the parapets today.
