Marcus Shields grew up with a piano playing mother and sheet music always around.  In High School choir a friend said "this is easy, you should try opera, that's the hard one!"  So of course Marcus got into opera and fell in love with it!  In grad school, he realized he was good, but not THAT good, but he could help teach his fellow students how to stand, and act and create a character.  He believes there is no clear path to directing, but he is the creator of an artistic idea.  Marcus has directed operas for every major company in America.  He is a cofounder of Ossia Production Company.  And a founding member of Catapult Opera.
