Mike Rogers against progressive Abdul El-Sayed after Gary Peters retired. Ohio’s governor’s race features Vivek Ramaswamy against Amy Acton in a state Trump has carried three times. Maine has Susan Collins defending her seat against Troy Jackson in the one Republican-held Senate race in a state Harris won. Alaska has Dan Sullivan facing Mary Peltola under ranked-choice rules in a race that has stayed tighter than the state’s presidential margin suggested. These five contests decide whether Republicans keep the Senate majority they hold at 53-47 or watch Democrats reach the four-seat net gain they need. They also decide whether key governorships stay in GOP hands. Trump’s message was simple: turnout equals landslide.
