In The Workroom:
Lindsey finally got her husband's socks finished, and before Christmas! She may have something else in the works for him, but time is getting short.
Lindsey is still trudging along on the cable hat, and despite her frustration with this project she is signing up for a sock knitting class in the new year.
Kate is making good progress on her Breakwater socks, a few inches left!
She is continuing to work on the sleeves for the conifer sweater, but mostly she has been spinning to avoid the sleeves.
Alterations:
Kate ran into some problems trying to Navajo/Chain ply her braid of Corriedale, she maybe needs a bit more practice. Find out how it turned out and what she's going to use it for.
Lindsey discusses how moving up North has required an update in snow gear, which means a change in colour scheme for all the winter gear she is working on.
Lindsey is also ecstatic that she was able to fix a mistake on her mittens without even paying much attention. This has her feeling much more confident about fixing future mistakes should they arise.

Skills Lab:
A couple of weeks ago we talked about how upgrading some of the basic tools we use can make a big difference. Here are Kate's top five things to upgrade:
1. Needles! Find out the needles they want to try and order a single set, not a whole set of of interchangeables unless they've tried them, but a single set, or tester set of interchangeables and a promissory note to upgrade if they like them.
2. Scissors. There is no such thing as too many pairs of scissors, and honestly I love a cheap set, but a really beautiful sturdy set of high quality scissors that are worth sharpening are a gift your maker will have forever.
3. Project bags. We have a lot of stuff and it's so nice to be able to kit it up and make it portable. That way, when we find the yarn later, the pattern and needles will hopefully be all in one place.
4. Row counters / stitch markers to make our lives easier.
5. A good ball winder and or swift. You can never go wrong with a Stanwood needle craft winder.
A Review or Two:
Lindsey reviews the Yarns of Rhichard Devrieze. They are a definite recommend from her, find out why.
Crafting With Kids:
Miss O and Lindsey tackle some chocolate making in preparation for some upcoming family get-togethers. It takes them three tries and the better part of an afternoon to get it right, but it all worked out in the end.
Events Spotlight:
Congratulations to Amberly Salem who is our lucky winner from our Muskoka Yarn Box giveaway.
Kate discusses the new Yarn & Fibre Festival in Fenelon Falls, ON in June! We've started preparations to bring you the Kawartha Yarn & Fibre festival, and right now the call for vendors is out. If you're an independent small to medium sized business interested in vending @ a fully accessible and indie focused festival in early June in the Kawarthas, please reach out to us at kawarthayff@gmail.com to get on the vendor list.
From the Mail Bag:
What's your favourite crafting project to work on around the holidays?
