Chris Nunn Decathlon, High Performance Manager for the Australian Paralympic Committee

Dela

Chris represented Australia in the decathlon at the Brisbane 1982 Commonwealth Games but injury forced him to retire from competition. It was not long afterwards that Chris turned his attention to coaching and completed a Bachelor of Education, in physical education and biology, at the South Australian College of Advanced Education (now the University of South Australia).

After another four successful years, which included the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games, Chris became head coach of the AIS Track and Field program, a position he held until 2003.

Chris has received numerous awards for coaching, including the Medal of the Order of Australia for his contribution to disability sport, the Australian Paralympic Committee Coach of the Year (1998) and the Confederation of Australian Sport Dawn Fraser Award. He also served as Chairman of the Athletics Committee of the International Sports Organisation for the Disabled from 1994 to 1996.

In 2004 Chris helped fund the establishment of a Kings learn-to-swim school in Canberra, which opened in 2006. In 2009 Chris moved away from the management-side of the business to make time for his current position as a High Performance Manager for the Australian Paralympic Committee
