The Government's celebrating strong momentum in the minerals sector. A one-year review of the Government's Minerals Strategy shows exports have climbed from $1.46 billion in 2023 to about $2.5 billion this year. Gold production and employment have also grown, with more than $30 million in royalties expected this financial year. Minerals Council Chief Executive Josie Vidal told Mike Hosking they're optimistic, but there are still hurdles. She says any production industry struggles with red tape, so it's good to see this strategy try to get the mining industry up and running.
