I'm Still Here: Told Six Months to Live, Three Times

Tom LeNoble has been given six months to live three separate times. He has lived with metastatic cancer for fourteen years. In this conversation, he explains why none of that made him slow down, and why the real work after a crisis is not recovery. It is deciding what you are going to do with whatever time is left.

If you have ever scome through a hard stretch and gone right back to operating exactly the way you did before it, this conversation names why that happens and what it costs.

What was covered:

  1. Why Tom's father kept three replacement door handles for a house that only needed one, and how that scarcity belief followed Tom into a Fortune 500 career
  2. What it sounded like to sit in a car and speak directly to a cancer diagnosis in the rearview mirror
  3. The three phases of Tom's talk "Living Fully While Dying," and where most people get stuck in phase one
  4. Why Tom's coaching method assumes the client already has the answer, and his job is only to help them clear the hay
  5. What a Facebook recruiter heard when Tom hung up on the first call, and how he ended up interviewing with a nineteen-year-old Mark Zuckerberg
  6. Why Tom tells people to add "or something better" to every goal they set
