The Chase for the Championship kicks off in our backyard at Darlington Raceway, and it’s going to be a hot one! Join Meteorologist Scotty Powell from the Carolina Weather Group as he breaks down the weekend forecast for all the racing action in Darlington County, South Carolina.
Weekend Weather Highlights:
Friday: Festivities kick off with the hauler parade and charity events under hot conditions.
Saturday (Fleetio 200): Expect extremely hot conditions during the day with high temperatures reaching the mid to upper 90s and heat index values topping 100°F. Staying hydrated is key! Conditions will begin to cool down as the race kicks off around 7:30 PM.
Sunday (Cook Out Southern 500): A slightly cooler day with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s, but heat indices will still hover near 100°F. Watch out for a 30% chance of isolated pop-up thunderstorms between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Keep a rain jacket handy!
