Kris and David are back this week to discuss the week-plus that was April 28-May 5, 1986, a show requested by Joe Finnerty on our Patreon with a $25 pledge. Topics of discussion include:

  • The final gasp of the glory days of World Class, as we talk about the 3rd Annual David Von Erich Memorial Parade of Champions at Texas Stadium, featuring the end of the Freebirds basically as they depart for the UWF, plus the return of Chris Adams from his "blindness" angle and much more.
  • Hell freezing over as Harley Race makes his WWF debut in Toronto just days after working a Central States show in Kansas City.
  • Saturday Night's Main Event on NBC featuring Hulk Hogan and the Junkyard Dog vs. the Funks, Jake the Snake DDTing Ricky Steamboat on the floor, and Uncle Elmer’s final WWF match, as he was fired right after the show.
  • News from Roddy Piper filming the movie Body Slam, and how the battle lines were drawn on set as far as which wrestlers would hang out with other wrestlers from a given promotion.
  • Andre the Giant refusing to cooperate with Akira Maeda, leading to one of the strangest pro wrestling matches ever on a New Japan TV taping, plus the story of how the video of the match, which never aired, originally leaked out.
  • The last Pro Wrestling USA-branded show at the Meadowlands.
  • Who is that masked man in Continental?
  • Jerry Lawler strips J.D. Costello on Memphis TV, revealing Costello's garter belt.
  • The Fabulous Freebirds contract signing video on UWF TV, which was fantastic.
  • Bruiser Brody and John Nord getting suspended in Las Vegas for playing rough.
  • For the 2nd straight year, an NFL 1st round draft pick is threatening to go to pro wrestling to get more money.
  • Baby Doll returning to TV after being attacked Jim Cornette and the Midnight Express…and she’s joined by the James Boys to do her bidding.
  • Tully Blanchard & Ronnie Garvin take up essentially the whole hour of NWA Worldwide Wrestling with their National Title match, and it's a great episode.

This was a tremendous show and we hope you will enjoy it!!!
