Free training: https://www.simplyconvivial.com/organized - Feeling like your yearly goals never survive real life? If you have little kids, homeschool, or just a lot on your plate, a 12-month plan (or even a 12-week plan) is too long to be realistic.
In this episode I'm sharing my Six-Week Interval Planning system — the homemaking breakthrough that finally helped me stop feeling behind and start making visible progress without the overhaul mentality.
This is planning for how homemaking actually works: iterative, seasonal, and interrupted.
INSIDE THIS EPISODE:
Why annual and 12-week plans fail for busy moms
What 6-week interval planning is (and why 6 weeks is the sweet spot)
How to set realistic, achievable goals you can actually finish
How to build in maintenance so your home doesn't fall apart between projects
The #1 planning mistake that keeps you stuck in "planning mode"
How to name your intervals to set better expectations (birthday interval, holiday interval, etc.)
How to work WITH your real life — not against it

THE 6-WEEK INTERVAL PROCESS:
List non-negotiables — birthdays, appointments, travel, holidays
Assess your real bandwidth for the next 6 weeks
Choose ONE focus project (or a few tiny iterations)
Break it down — "make 3 scrapbook pages" instead of "finish the scrapbook"
Stick with the plan for the full 6 weeks (no changing the template!)
Review, adjust, and plan the next interval
Homemaking has no finish line — but interval planning gives you a rhythm to keep moving forward with cheerful competence.
