Why are women so reluctant to advocate for what they want in the workplace?

Is it genetic? Are women born to be the more passive sex? Is it cultural: girls are supposed to be nice? Or is it societal: the male hierarchy rules?

It's true that promotions, pay boosts and a place at the table have historically gone to male co-workers – and in many cases still do even with all the advancements of the last few decades.

What if instead of waiting for what they want, women just go for it?

That's the message in a new book that provides the road map. It's titled UP! The Playbook For Every Woman on the Rise.

The book was written by two sisters, originally from Ohio, who are living the advice they dispense on the book's pages. They're also running a company to help other women.
