We treasure our right to protest, but where is the line between protest and harassment? When does your right to speak your mind turn into a criminal offence? We’ll learn with Joshua Tom, Legal Director, ACLU of Mississippi.

  • ACLU.org has a Know your rights: protesters rights page. There’s a PDF for organizing a protest or attending one. There’s information about taking pictures or videos, sharing information on social media, and if you get stopped by the police while protesting.
  • I love our show because we try to stay topical. I’ve come across two news articles with information about cars - that In Legal Terms has already covered. I read about a theft of two guns from an unlocked vehicle in the Tupelo area. If you listened to our show about Gun Rights, you would have known what a problem that is. I’ve also come across a notification about the Touch Law – 30 states now have laws against touching your phone while you drive – these 30 states include Alabama, Tennessee, and Louisiana.
