Casey Viera and NBA champion Devin Brown break down the Spurs' 116-104 season-opening defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder thanks to an MVP-caliber showing from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and an uncharacteristically poor showing from Victor Wembanyama.
Gilgeous-Alexander, the reigning most valuable player award winner, totaled a game-high 32 points in the two team's first meeting since San Antonio clinched the Western Conference Finals in Game 7 last May.
Wembanyama scored 12 points, while grabbing 13 rebounds and blocking six shots but made only one of his 13 field goal attempts.
Stephon Castle led San Antonio with 24 points, Dylan Harper scored 18 and De'Aaron Fox added 14 points and 7 assists.
The Spurs return to action Friday at the Moody Center in Austin against Kevin Durant, Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson and the Houston Rockets.
