Last week we saw Ash and the crew stumble upon Len town, which was overrun with aggressive Ghost-Type Pokémon! The citizens even had to arm themselves with Psychic-Types, simply to keep the Ghosts away. It was a fun episode but didn’t advance our storyline at all. We went into this episode hopeful, but after learning that it was actually the final episode on the Johto Journey’s run, we know that Goldenrod was also not in our immediate future.
What this episode does bring us is a more human look at our characters, with many of them showing different sides of themselves than we are used to. Specifically Misty and James have some great scenes as we see everyone become obsessed with their Pokémon horoscope. The fun twist is that the book they are holding in such high regard is actually a phony. We learn that well after the fact, so we get the privilege of seeing James go full Moltres, with some amazingly classic one liners.
Out of nowhere we are also treated with the return of Butch and Cassidy, and we are reminded what competent Team Rocket members can actually do. We get some great Team Rocket on Team Rocket battling, and some fresh looking battle animations that help keep you engaged with the story.
The real treat is Moltres James, which we are confident, will be the most memorable part of the episode and maybe, all of Johto Journeys!
If you can’t be out there catching them all, hang out with us and watch’em all!
