Forgiveness doesn’t just keep us connected to what hurt us—it can take root in our hearts and keep us from the freedom God wants for us.

In his most recent message, “Forgiveness,” Pastor Cody Sikes reminds us that offense will come, but we don’t have to let it stay. Like the deep roots of the sycamine tree Jesus referenced in Luke 17, bitterness has to be dealt with at the root. Forgiveness doesn’t mean what happened was okay—it means we trust God with it and choose freedom instead of allowing the hurt to keep holding us captive.
