On a freezing December night in 2020, a 21-year-old Texas State University student packed his bags, loaded his car, and began the drive home to Missouri City for the holidays. He never arrived. In the early morning hours, his vehicle was found wrecked and abandoned on a desolate, unpaved gravel road in Caldwell County, Texas—miles off his intended route, with the lights still on and the keys still in the ignition.
The scene grew exponentially stranger with every passing hour. Scattered along the dark, desolate roadway were his phone, wallet, backpack, and the clothes he had been wearing that night—left behind as temperatures plunged below freezing. Despite massive volunteer search operations, aerial drone mapping, and exhaustive forensic reviews, not a single trace of the student has ever been found.
