Marilee Valkass owes her love of nature to her father who introduced her to the deserts and mountains of California at a young age. This fascination has guided her life—leading her down the snowy slopes of Mammoth, cross country in cycling races, and into wilderness areas with her backpack. Jason and Marilee spoke one day in the hills of Bend, OR about her time competing and organizing cycling events, a childhood near the beach, the challenges and rewards of her corporate career, connecting with others by teaching outdoor skills, and the joy of riding in a mini pirate ship.
