Guest: Maryanna Klatt, Ph.D.

Everyone needs your attention. But you’re exhausted; how much do you have left?

When your days are filled with meetings, messages, and difficult decisions, pushing through the overload and stress becomes a habit. You keep delivering, but finish the day exhausted, distracted, and still replaying a conversation that ended hours ago.

Maureen Metcalf welcomes mindfulness researcher Maryanna Klatt, PhD, to explore how leaders can recognize their reactions to stress and respond more deliberately. Klatt explains the workplace practices behind Mindfulness in Motion, and shares research on its effects among intensive care personnel.

The conversation connects mindfulness to familiar leadership challenges: checking email while someone is speaking, anticipating conflict with a colleague, and mistaking an interpretation for a fact. Maureen also shares a coaching example of a leader who learned to notice his stress and step away before taking it out on others.

You’ll hear practical approaches to bringing attention into meetings, examining the stories you tell yourself, and practicing mindful eating…including the revealing question, “What are you really hungry for?”

Listen for ideas you can apply in your next conversation, meeting, or meal.
