On Episode 125 of Totally Deep Podcast, Doug Stenclik and Randy Young of www.cripplecreekbc.com bring you the lowdown on the world of uphill and backcountry skiing and boarding. Gear, technique, fashion, jargon, guests, and assorted spray from folks who know how to earn it in the backcountry. The world's best backcountry skiing podcast.

This 125th episode features the Roaring Fork Valley's Mike Marolt. His name is synonymous with the rise of high-altitude ski mountaineering in the United States. Along with his twin brother Steve and friend Jim Gile, he climbed and skied Shishpangma in 2000. They became the first from the U.S. to descend an 8,000-meter peak on skis.

Mike discusses his latest climb-to-ski ambitions in South America and his book, Shishapangma, Skiing the Highline: The Account of the First American Ski Descent from an 8000-Meter Peak, released last year.

Almost happy spring and be safe out there.
