The University of Pennsylvania Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics, or LDI, put out a white paper called “The Future of Value-Based Payment: A Road Map to 2030.” That paper made some really interesting points about ACOs. For example, they say that the average ACO shows a net savings of <1% per beneficiary after paying out shared savings, with a 1% to 4% gross savings, although there’s “modest” quality improvements across readmissions, patient experience, and care coordination.
