In this episode, Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, Natalie Forsythe and I discuss the research connecting childhood sexual abuse with disordered eating and body image struggles. We now know that trauma impacts the brain's development and changes the response to reward, which can lead many people to develop binge eating behaviors. We discuss why labeling food as "good" or "bad" is detrimental to our mental and physical health. We even explore ways in which to set boundaries to better filter the external messages we are receiving so we can put an end to body shaming.
