The first live.code festival in Germany took place at the Karlsruhe University of Music (HfM) from 19th to 21st of April 2013 organized by IMWI (Institute for Musicology and Music Informatics) and ComputerStudio of HfM, the local live coding band Benoît and the Mandelbrots and members of the live coding organization TOPLAP. The weekend long festival was dedicated to live coding – a rising discipline of computer music – in order to exchange ideas, demonstrate systems, enjoy concerts and establish networks of people and institutions interested in the research and performance of the practice. Although the main focus of the festival was live coding of audio the festival also promoted live coding in other disciplines as well.
