Artful Retreat: Garden Culture of the Qing Dynasty

This symposium brings together scholars from China, the United States, Australia, and Europe to explore the artistic, literary, political, historical, and economic aspects of garden culture in China since the seventeenth century. It was scheduled in conjunction with the special exhibition The Emperor’s Private Paradise: Treasures from the Forbidden City at the Peabody Essex Museum.
