TCP/IP

This course will examine the TCP/IP Protocol Suite and study the relationship of TCP/IP with network architectures such as OSI. The course will examine the various specific protocols that form this protocol suite such as IP, ICMP, TCP, Telnet, FTP, SNMP, and others, and the functions and services they provide. Naming and addressing conventions, routing and network configuration will be studied together with the process of using TCP/IP on an Internet. This course will further provide students with the concepts, terminology and procedures to set up and use TCP/IP on a network. The advantages and disadvantages of using TCP/IP as a LAN and Internet protocol will be covered.
