In this series I will create mixes based on my teenage record collection. I kept a diary throughout the 1980s and logged every record I bought each year so can accurately recreate my archive.
During my teenage years I amassed a rather small but compact box of Punk, New Wave and Mod singles. I mainly focussed on The Jam and Stiff Little Fingers but was becoming increasingly more interested in obscure releases on independent labels.
So take a trip with me as I recreate the sights and sounds emanating from my teenage bedroom during the late seventies and early eighties. When this noise annoyed. And just like an addict waiting for his next fix, I had to wait until pocket-money day before adding to my collection.
It was a time before the digital world changed everything regarding music. A period in time when the vinyl record really was KING to most kids.
It was also a special time of discovery, when the singles and albums I bought really counted for something.
