Srila Prabhupada, born Abhay Charan De (1896–1977), was a visionary spiritual leader and the founder-acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). He is widely recognized for introducing the ancient Vedic teachings of India to the Western world in a way that was both accessible and practical for the modern age. In the teachings of Srila Prabhupada and the Vedic tradition, Krishna is recognized as the Svayam Bhagavan—the Supreme Personality of Godhead and the source of all incarnations. The name "Krishna" itself is a Sanskrit word that means "The All-Attractive."
