The Stevie Richards Show Episode 22 | Paul F'in Heyman
In this episode, we are talking about one of the most polarizing figures in the world of professional wrestling. A man whose name is synonymous with both revolution and controversy. In 1993, Heyman took control of what was once Eastern Championship Wrestling and transformed it into a hardcore, rebellious promotion that will forever change the landscape of the industry. It was a breeding ground for innovation and giving rise to legends like Tommy Dreamer, Raven, The Sandman and many others.
Under Heyman's leadership, the promotion became a sanctuary for the outcasts, the misfits and the wrestling fans who wanted something raw and something real. But while Heyman may have been a visionary for his time, running ECW was not without its fair share of scandals. Behind the scenes, Ecu's finances were a disaster, for Heyman's passion for the product was undeniable, but his ability to handle the business side was far less successful. From bouncing checks to lying to his talent about payments, many of the roster members were left in the dark, literally and financially. As the promotion struggled to stay afloat.
The company's eventual collapse in 2001 was a direct result of these financial mismanagement issues.Despite all the passion and energy Heyman poured into his promotion, by the time he went under the unpaid wages, the broken promises and the bouncing checks had left a bitter taste in the mouths of many who have worked for him. Today we discuss the legacy of Paul Heyman.
Welcome to episode 22 other Steve Richard Show.
Stevie Richards surprised, entertained and informed the wrestling world in 2023 when he debuted the Stevie Richards' Wrestling Analysis YouTube channel to widespread critical acclaim. Combining his experience in the wrestling profession with his keen eye for detail and a passion for teaching fans and workers alike, Richards achieved over 100,000 YouTube subscribers in a matter of months with his short form videos explaining exactly what went right or wrong in a particular match or manoeuvre.
With 30+ years working for nearly every major American promotion during their hottest periods (ECW, WCW, WWE, TNA), Stevie Richards is not only dusting off his patented whiteboard and marker to once again break down the psychology and physicality of this crazy business, but Stevie is now adding to his repertoire by debuting a weekly show, imaginatively titled The Stevie Richards Show.
The "show" in The Stevie Richards Show is the key word - this will not be another run of the mill podcast recorded on Zoom, clipped up and posted 8 times a day on YouTube and featuring a disinterested ex pro wrestler out to make a quick buck. What makes The Stevie Richards Show a "show" will be the attention to detail given to every episode, including added on screen annotations, factoids, images and video and 4K camera set up to give the sharpest, best looking, broadcast quality videos on YouTube. Most importantly of all, The Stevie Richards Show's output will be about quality, not quantity.
Every Friday, Stevie Richards and co-host James Romero (WSI | Wrestling Shoot Interviews, Story Time with Dutch Mantell) will discuss the latest news, delve deep into the wrestling profession with more detail and first hand experience than any other podcast, answer fan submitted questions and, yes, break out the whiteboard to break down the what went right, or wrong, in the wrestling world.
