Marriage and Family Therapist and Childhood Trauma specialist Amber Trejo is here to illuminate the ways untreated childhood trauma shows up in our parenting, and MAN, will you have some lightbulb moments in this episode.

Amber explains the symptoms of childhood trauma that often become activated by becoming a parent (catastrophizing, emotional flashbacks, over-reacting to age appropriate behavior in our children, overly seeking and relying on outside guidance and information and feeling powerless and out of control). Yup. Yes. Ok.

Amber and I provide examples of how this showed up for us in our journeys so you can fully grasp onto these concepts and feel so seen and not alone in them. We also talk about how the current parenting culture is another version of the 1950's housewife rules, the tension between the rising feminine and the wounded masculine, how trauma shows up in our relationship with our co-parent, and of course, you guessed it, inner child healing.

This episode is SO GOOD. Amber is such a gentle wise self-aware clinician, and I want to press this conversation into the ears of every parent out there. We need to know what we're dealing with to get out of it, this episode is a huge step in the right direction.
