Interview with Rhys Paddick (Cultural de-sensitivity expert)

Dela

In this week’s episode of The Imposter Syndrome Club, we sit down with the incredible Rhys Paddick to talk all thing cultural ‘de-sensitivity’.

We chat through understanding why you want to do an acknowledgment of country, moving away from performative action, connecting people and place, what is the actual risk of getting it ‘wrong’, being led by curiosity, starting with language, the importance of finding what’s fun to you, that tribalism is natural - from sport to religion to culture, how labels are useful until they’re not, focusing more on the similarities than the differences, contractual fun, qualitative & quantitative check ins, questioning dogma and exploring different frameworks, that cultures and frameworks are not in competition with each other, the value of working in partnership, the domino effect, the pressure of representing your culture, that most of the fears are in your head, cultural safety, over-correction leading to fear and paralysis, being a leader, the benefit of inexperience, creating change from what you know, and that you’ve got more power than you think, and you have to find that within yourself.

Again, we unfortunately had issues with the video cutting out, so if you're watching please enjoy our faces while they're there!
