Before Ariel Castro kidnapped and held captive three young women, he held his wife Grimilda and their children hostage in their own home. He subjected her to horrific abuse and bizarre behavior. The abuse was so extreme, it would later factor in with her death at age 48. Even after she managed to escape him, Castro continued to destroy her life and the life of the man who tried to save her and her children from his reign of terror.
