Atalanta’s victory against Milan has propelled them to top spot, after Napoli lost out to Lazio in both the Serie A & Coppa Italia fixtures. It was not a sweet return for Thiago Motta, as he was sent off for dissent, & Juventus had to fight from behind to secure a point against Bologna. Ranieri’s Roma got their first win since his return against Lecce, whilst Inter continue their winning ways, breezing past Parma. Fiorentina earned their 8th consecutive win against Cagliari, a streak last achieved in the 1959/1960 season. Venezia vs Como was the ‘fun’ match of the week, as the relegation 6 pointer was played during a storm. Genoa vs Torino, on the other hand, was the ‘boring’ match of the week. Verona were demolished by Empoli, in a match which seems to have decided Zanetti’s future. Monza continue their winless run, as they were beaten by Udinese who have already surpassed their victory tally from last season.
