Hello & welcome back to the first episode of Season 2!

In the spirit of the fall & winter seasons, this episode’s theme is death & grief. This week, John & Amy speak to Dr. Brad Lichtenstein, ND BCB BCB-HRV. Dr. Brad is a Naturopathic Physician practicing in Seattle. He is the creator of The Breath Space, a training program that uses the power of breath to transform health, & has been a clinical supervisor for mind-body medicine/biofeedback & core clinical faculty at Bastyr. John, Amy & Dr. Brad discuss living with grief & why it is important to our living selves to accept the inevitability that we all face, death. Dr Brad shares his experience & research with hospice patients & how managing the HIV clinic at Bastyr impacted his outlook on dying & grief. We also learn that grief is not exclusive to a death experience & how to remove the power of vulnerability in order to make people in our community feel safe.

First, we check in with John & Amy. Their marriage, their children, Life On Mars & the general temperature of their lives since the last episode of Season 1. Also, John & Amy’s share their individual experience with death & dying, both in the past & ongoing. What do we do, consciously & unconsciously, to make ourselves feel safe when we experience death? Amy shares how she’s deals with grief & John shows us his understanding of the levels of grief & how it is important in the acceptance & health of death.

This weeks featured music is Lea Porcelain. Theme music by Michael Lerner. Additional Music by Palm Frauds.
