This week on the podcast I am excited to present to you my fellow artist, colleague and friend, Kim VanDerHoek. In this episode Kim and I talk how this past year has affected her art career, but also how sticking to a schedule has really helped her stay productive and prolific. Setting goals and having deadlines have become more important than ever.
Kim is a mom to two, and has some useful tips for all of you parents out there of young ones, and teens! In this conversation, she discusses how she has continuously made time for her art no matter what the age of her children has been. It hasn’t always been easy, but she has worked hard and what was once a hobby blossomed into a successful career. Kim shares with us how and when her family realized that her job as an artist was a “real” job and also discusses the importance of doing what fits with your life, whatever that may be!
Kim shares about the passing of her dear friend, Greg LaRock, and the amazing influence he had on so many artists, including Kim. She discusses their friendship, his mentorship, and how Greg is still with Kim today because of all that she learned from him.
Lastly, we want to remind you that we have just recorded and opened registration for Kim’s debut online class LANDSCAPE ESSENTIALS! If you have not taken a class with Kim, you are missing out! This class is chalk full of so many yummy nuggets of info that will take your okay landscape, to a brilliant piece of art!
