On Saint Valentines day in 1900 a group of girls from an exclusive ladies boarding school set out for a picnic at hanging rock. But what should have been an idyllic day turned into a nightmare that would have far reaching and catastrophic effects on all involved. Three young ladies and their governess would never return from the rock. Their disappearance would go down in Australian history as one of the most puzzling unsolved mysteries of the nation. But what really happened at the rock on that summer’s day in 1900? We will explore the book and author Joan Lindsay, the film, the story's hidden symbolism and the actual rock, as well as mysterious and supernatural events that surround Picnic at Hanging Rock.
