Dr. lain Campbell is the Baszucki Research Fellow in Metabolic Psychiatry at the University of Edinburgh. He has a PhD in Global Health from the University of Edinburgh and is a principal investigator on a pilot trial of a ketogenic diet for bipolar disorder at The Division of Psychiatry within the Centre for Clinical Brain Sciences. Dr. Campbell has lived experience of Bipolar Disorder Type 2 and has experienced the benefits of ketogenic metabolic therapy for over 8 years. Growing evidence from the fields of genomics, epigenomics, metabolomics, and transcriptomics points to a significant biological overlap between metabolic dysfunction (such as insulin resistance, obesity, and type 2 diabetes) and severe psychopathology (including psychosis, mania, and severe depression), and this awareness has been recently gaining popularity. Dr. Campbell is also a composer interested in the intersection between bipolar disorder, creativity, and music. He worked for 5 years as the Music Producer for global interactive entertainment company Rockstar Games (Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption) and as assistant to film composer Harry Gregson-Williams.
