How can engineers drive social and ecological responsibility in the world?  Today our topic is teaching and learning in engineering, and I’m talking to André Baier.  André is lecturer and post doc at Technical University of Berlin, in Berlin, Germany. He leads the study reform project "Blue Engineering” and he is vice chairman of the Sustainability Council at TU Berlin.  In 2019 he was awarded the annual SEFI Francesco Maffioli Award of Excellence for Developing Learning and Teaching in Engineering Education. He has taught as a visiting lecturer at Technical University of Delft in the Netherlands, Aalborg University in Denmark, and Sharif University of Technology in Iran. On the podcast André talks about the engineering course offered at top universities in Germany that was actually started by students. Andre makes the point that engineering isn’t just about technical skills. Students can work together to understand real issues in the world.
