In this episode, we talk to Bill Alexander, leader of the IBM Developer for z/OS (IDz) lab and newly minted STSM (Senior Technical Staff Member), about IDz as a workbench, the transition to an open-and-modern DevOps development workbench, and how community involvement shapes the future of IDz. Bill walks us down his path to where he is now, sharing some interesting points and thoughts about how coming from a small company and various acquisitions landed him where he is today. We also talk about how community involvement and feedback from IDz users impact the growth and functionality of the workbench, as well as what transitioning to a DevOps workbench can look like for users (spoiler alert: this journey looks different for anyone!).
