You must have had phases in your life when the suffering and pain would have appeared unbearable. You must have faced those moments that shook your resolve to give your best.

If yes, listen to Simerjeet Singh read out one of his favourite inspirational poems, “On Pain” by the Lebanese American poet Khalil Gibran.

In the latest rendition of the life-changing poem, Khalil Gibran conveys that pain is the essential remedy that propels you to higher levels of individual growth. It is a wonderous and remarkable force that can teach you that nothing lasts forever in life. Through this beautiful specimen of life poetry, Gibran highlights that you should accept phases of pain and the lessons it teaches as you accept the phases of happiness. You must learn to accept pain and not resist, deny and make it the villain of your life. It would help if you made a conscious choice to embrace it to let it heal you from within. The poet highlights that accepting pain will help you trust God or the divine power and tread on the chosen path with full faith.

If you have suffered setbacks, failures, and heartbreaks, Simerjeet’s recitation of this life poetry will provide you with the strength to take on challenges, give your best, and accept the phases of pain with serenity and tranquillity.

Pain by Khalil Gibran

Your pain is the breaking of the shell that encloses

your understanding.

Even as the stone of the fruit must break, that its

heart may stand in the sun, so must you know pain.

And could you keep your heart in wonder at the

daily miracles of your life, your pain would not seem

less wondrous than your joy;

And you would accept the seasons of your heart,

even as you have always accepted the seasons that

pass over your fields.

And you would watch with serenity through the

winters of your grief.

Much of your pain is self-chosen.

It is the bitter potion by which the physician within

you heals your sick self.

Therefore trust the physician, and drink his remedy

in silence and tranquillity:

For his hand, though heavy and hard, is guided by

the tender hand of the Unseen,

And the cup he brings, though it burn your lips, has

been fashioned of the clay which the Potter has

moistened with His own sacred tears.
