In the early 1990s, Carol Fox Prescott began writing first-person narratives in the voices of the ancestral foremothers of Judaism, as a way to reconnect with the women of her faith tradition and to know their stories at a deeper, more intimate level. Decades later, her explorations would eventually lead to the creation of "In the Voice of Our Mothers," a Haggadah (sacred text) that invites long missing female voices, ancient and contemporary, to the table during the traditional ritual meal celebrated each spring on the Jewish Festival of Passover.

Carol is a celebrated actor, singer, director, master teacher, performance coach, and writer, with more than 50 years of experience in professional theater. In this episode we discuss the reawakening of her Jewish faith, her experience reimagining the voices of her ancestors both on stage and in print, and how bringing women to the forefront of our ancient stories can transform them and make them more relatable for all of us.
