First played in 1974 during Dean Beman’s first year as the PGA Tour’s second commissioner at Atlanta Country Club, it’s a fascinating story of how his vision for a flagship event for the tour became a reality, including the unveiling of the Stadium Course and refinements that would make it become what it is today.
